MOORESTOWN FRIENDS SCHOOL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAMS

 QUALIFY FOR STATE COMPETITION

 

 

Moorestown Friends School (MFS) Middle School and Upper School Science Olympiad teams competed in the Camden County College Regional of the New Jersey Science Olympiad on Saturday, January 13, in Blackwood, New Jersey.  The Upper School team placed second in the competition, and the Middle School team placed third.  Both teams qualified for the State Championship Tournament to be held at Middlesex County College in Edison, NJ, on Tuesday, March 13.

High school teams competed in 14 different events.  The MFS Upper School team placed first in Astronomy, and came in second in Boomilever, Chemistry Lab, Experimental Design, Health Science, Physics Lab, and Scrambler.  Upper School team members included Moorestown residents Emily Adair (12), Matt French (12) and Shaina Karasin (11), Kira Adams of Willingboro (11), Sanjay Bhatt of Medford (12), Lauren Hawkins of Franklinville (11), Charlie Hodgens of Port Republic (11), Zach Melrose of Voorhees (12), Dave Sheffield of Mount Laurel (12), Anne Stouffer of Haddonfield (12), Eric Teitelbaum of Cinnaminson (11) and Sarah Van Cleve of Lumberton (12).

Middle School teams competed in 15 events.  The MFS Middle School team placed first in Disease Detective, Ecology, Simple Machines and Tower Building.  The MFS team came in second in Road Scholar, Rocks and Minerals, and Write It, Do It. 

Middle School team members included Moorestown residents George Bader (8), Laura Bader (7), Alex Littleton (8), Erin Londres (8), Riley Londres (8), Devin Massaro (8), Adrienne Saludades (8), Sam Saludades (8), Brian White (8) and David White (8), Hainesport residents Alex Smith (8) and Andrew Smith (8), Mount Laurel residents Ted Barrett (7), Andrew Johnson (8) and Kyle Price (6), Medford resident Katherine Churchill (7) and Delran resident Gabe Hege (7).
