MFS Moorestown Friends School

Strategic Plan 2011

Innovative and Extra-Curricular Programming

Plan Goal #12: Explore opportunities to build innovative programs that are compatible with the school’s mission.

Rationale

New, innovative programs may generate additional revenue for MFS.  The school has an opportunity to offer new programs for current and prospective students, as well as others in the community, outside of the normal school day.  These offerings could supplement current academic programs, provide unique experiences for students, support retention, attract prospective students, and offer additional compensation for participating MFS faculty and staff.

Strategies

  • Create an Ad Hoc committee to examine the feasibility and implementation of the following ideas: offer a full-year program and contract for early childhood students; institute a multi-week summer academic and enrichment programs for pre-high school students; develop a Middle School annual musical; enhance after-school enrichment programs; add after-school academic programs; expand summer academic offerings; and institutionalize tutoring programs.
  • Explore opportunities to utilize campus spaces (indoor and out) to generate additional revenue.
  • Consider establishing a multi-use, technologically equipped lecture space which can be used for performance/rehearsal, filmmaking and distance learning.
  • Study the creation of an Adjunct Faculty and Facilities Coordinator to manage extra-curricular programs and revenue growth.
  • Explore the air-conditioning of school buildings to expand summer programming offerings (and provide equal access to temperature controlled climates during regular school hours).
