"Bring a Friend to Friends" - November 29 - December 2
The Admissions Office will host “Bring a Friend to Friends” from Tuesday, November 29 - Friday, December 2. Please contact friends with school-age children in grades 1 - 9 who might be interested in considering Moorestown Friends School. Having their child visit for the day just might provide the incentive to have them seriously consider MFS. It’s this simple:
- Contact your friend and select a day from November 29 - December 2 for their child’s visit.
- Please e-mail the Admissions Office to RSVP the date of the visit by Monday, November 21. If the visitor is in your child’s grade, and you would like, we will assign your child as the host. If the visitor is in another grade, we will be happy to assign a host. Please have the parents’ names and address, phone number or email as well as the child’s name and grade available when you contact us.
- We will then contact your friend to confirm the date and give further details.

Radio Host Michael Smerconish To Keynote MFS Mock Primary Election
Nationally syndicated
radio host Michael Smerconish will present a keynote speech at the MFS Mock Republican Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, January 10.
The
MFS candidates are Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman,
Ron Paul, Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Each candidate will be
portrayed by an Upper School student throughout the campaign
season. Students in grades 5-12, faculty, and staff vote in the
mock election. In addition to selecting a Republican candidate,
voters also weigh in on selected hot-button issues. This year,
the issues include the soda tax, gender equality, disposal of
nuclear waste, federal funds for abortion, ban on preemptive
declaration of war and gay marriage. Lower School students learn about the electoral process.
Michael Smerconish hosts the syndicated radio program The Michael Smerconish Program which reaches more than 50 markets across the United States. He is the author of five books, two of them New York Times bestsellers. He pens a twice-weekly column in the Philadelphia Inquirer and is a contributor to The Daily Beast. Smerconish is also an on-air contributor with MSNBC. In 2008, he covered both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions for the network. He appears regularly on Hardball with Chris Matthews (a program he has guest hosted), and has been a guest on virtually every television program where politics are discussed, including the NBC Today Show, The Colbert Report, The O'Reilly Factor, Larry King Live, The View, and Real Time With Bill Maher.
Additional speakers and workshop presenters are being scheduled
and updates will be provided as the election draws closer.

Priscilla
Taylor-Williams, Chester Reagan Chair for Religious/Quaker
Studies, recently attended a American Red Cross master educators
meeting in Washington D.C. on the Exploring Humanitarian Law
(EHL) curriculum. The purpose of this invitation-only event
was to bring together experienced EHL educators from throughout
the United States who will assist in developing an implementation
strategy for formalizing and growing the network of EHL master
educators. EHL is an adaptable toolkit that gives educators
easy-to-use materials to expose students to issues of international
humanitarian law, the rules that ensure respect for life and
human dignity in war. |
