Celebrate Marge Dawson's MFS Career - Wednesday, May 13

A celebration for retiring Second Grade Teacher Marge Dawson will be held in the Dining Hall/Commons on Wednesday, May 13 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Prior to the celebration, the second grade will present its annual Violin Recital starting at 6:45 p.m. in the Meeting House. All members of the school community are welcome to join in the celebration, as well as attend the recital. Mrs. Dawson has taught second grade at MFS for 21 years. She was honored Friday evening at the Dinner Among Friends.

One Book Moorestown Friends School Day - Monday, May 18

MFS will celebrate its first “One Book Moorestown Friends School” Day on Monday, May 18. Students from Preschool – Grade 11, faculty and staff will share D. B. Johnson’s Henry Hikes to Fitchburg, a picture book inspired by a passage from Henry David Thoreau’s Walden. Volunteers for the day are still needed. Lunch:  All students will be eating a bag lunch on One Book Day. The Dining Hall will not be serving the normal school lunch.  Students can bring their lunch from home or pre-order a bag lunch from the dining hall. An order form was provided to students by their classroom teachers or by their advisor.   A lunch will be provided to all students on lunch contract. The deadline to order lunch is Monday, May 11.  Students can pay for the pre-ordered lunch in the dining hall on Wednesday and Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13, between 9 AM -2PM. Foxes Headed To Playoffs

Two MFS varsity teams have qualified for state playoff (NJSIAA) competition. The boys tennis team (6-3 overall, 3-3 Friends Schools League [FSL]) will host Bishop Eustace on May 14 at 3 p.m. in a South Jersey Non-Public B semifinal. The team hosts Abington Friends today with the winner claiming the fourth and final FSL playoff berth. The baseball team (8-3 overall, 6-2 FSL) has clinched a NJSIAA playoff berth and awaits the release of tournament brackets next week. They have yet to clinch an FSL playoff berth. With a win today at Westtown, the boys lacrosse team (2-5, 1-3) also still has a chance of qualifying for the FSL playoffs. Check the MFS Athletics website for Friends Schools League and NJSIAA playoff matchups.
