Fast Facts for Prospective Parents

Campus
Moorestown Friends School is located near the center of town at 110 East Main Street, Moorestown, New Jersey. The campus covers over 48 acres.

Class Size

Preschool - 12-14 students per class
Prekindergarten - 16 students per class;
Kindergarten - grade 12 - maximum of 18 students per class.

College Guidance
A rigorous, college-preparatory education gives students the foundation to be active learners and critical thinkers. In their sophomore year, Moorestown Friends students begin a personalized, formal college guidance process that helps them understand their own strengths as they plan for their future. During the two-year process, our college guidance department develops, with each student, a personalized list of potential schools and holds a series of individual and group meetings with students and their parents. Typically, 100 percent of MFS graduates matriculate at four-year institutions.

Dress Code

Moorestown Friends School does not have uniforms, but there is a dress code. As befitting a Friends school, a student's appearance should be neat and simple and should reflect modesty and moderation.

Enrollment
Enrollment for the 2010-2011 academic year is 706 students. The Lower School (Preschool through grade four) has one or two classrooms per grade; the Middle School (grades 4 - 8) has two classrooms in grade five and three sections in grades six through eight; and the Upper School (grades 9 - 12) has four sections per grade.

Extended Day

Creative and caring supervision for children before and after the regular school day is referred to as our Extended Day program. It is available for children in Preschool through grade four. Before school coverage is available from 7:15 am – 7:55 am, and after school coverage is available from 3:10 pm - 5:45 pm. Parents are billed by the Business Office for regular or occasional use of the program.

Faculty
Moorestown Friends School has 92 faculty, many of whom have advanced degrees. The student to teacher ratio is 9:1.

History

Moorestown Friends School, founded in 1785, is an independent, coeducational Quaker day school, accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Hours

School hours for the entire school are from 8:05 am until 3:10 pm.

Student Body
Although some students commute from Atlantic and Ocean counties and Philadelphia, about 90% of the student body live within a 12-mile radius of Moorestown Friends School in Burlington and Camden counties. Twenty-eight per cent of the student body is African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Middle Eastern or multiracial.

Transportation
Moorestown Friends School does not provide busing; however, busing is provided for some students in grades K-12 by local school districts. Parents should contact their district to find out if it provides actual bus service or will reimburse the parents an allocated amount.
